Role Context

The Standard Life Investments Marketing Department covers a wide range of functions including Investment Communication; Client Management; Brand and Advertising; Design and Production; eMarketing and Market Intelligence across 18 markets covering the retail and institutional channels.

The Events Consultant works within the Marketing Department and reports to the Head of Events


Role Purpose

The Events Consultant role is responsible for the delivery of a wide range of client and internal events, delivering the brand and ensuring Standard Life Investments is recognised as world class within this field. The roleholder will work closely with the Head of Events to implement a world-class centre of excellence for SLI globally, managing and delivering a systematic range of events across all 8 key client channels. These events will include exhibitions, conferences and hospitality.

Key Outcomes

  • Deliver a regular flow of targeted events to support Wholesale & Institutional

  • Ensure all events are fully planned and project managed

  • Attend and run events efficiently on the day

  • Ensure problems are resolved smoothly and in a calm and measured manner

  • Work with Digital to create the content to populate a central events portal

  • Utilise all existing literature in-house to best effect at events

  • Identify, develop and deliver a wide range of client hospitality, delivering an exceptional client experience leading to the generation of future business opportunities

  • Ensure all events and hospitality are fully measured and assessed, using the learnings to facilitate changes to future events, and feeding the results into the Marketing department's KPIs

  • Continually assess the quality and capabilities of venues and suppliers, seeking to raise the bar on a ongoing basi

  • Challenge the status quo in terms of activities currently undertaken

  • Ensure any SLI requirements, prioritise and issues are resolved proactively

  • Identify improvements to deliver excellent event practices and professionalise globally

  • Drive inspirational presentations onsite and continually assess the quality of the Technical & AV suppliers

  • Manage resource flow for events and secure contractors as appropriate

  • Develop strong working relationships with Channel Team and leverage their insights and expertise.

  • Ability to represent the DNA of Marketing with other parts of the firm and department



Experience in the following:

  • Budgeting
