It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Standard Life Investments (Holdings) Limited, which in turn is a wholly owned subsidiary of Standard Life plc. Standard Life Investments is a leading asset management company, with approximately £124 billion (as at 31 December 2008) of assets under management. It operates in the UK, Canada, Hong Kong, Australia, China, Ireland and the USA to ensure that it is able to form a truly global investment view. Standard Life Investments also operates in India through a joint venture, HDFC AMC. On 18 April 2006, the Board of The Standard Life Assurance Company recommended that it should demutualise and Standard Life plc float on the London Stock Exchange. At a Special General Meeting held on 31 May 2006 voting members overwhelmingly voted in favour of demutualisation and flotation. Demutualisation and flotation was approved by the Court of Session in Scotland on 9 June 2006 and Standard Life plc floated on the London Stock Exchange on 10 July 2006. Standard Life Investments is, and will continue to be, an integral part of the future of the Standard Life Group. Purpose Within Standard Life Investments the Financial Controls Team is responsible for all aspects of data integrity and financial control, including co-ordination, understanding, preparation and reconciliation of all banking and financial data for SLI. The team also produces internal and external reports, including FSA returns, and is responsible for raising invoices relating to management fees charged to SLI's clients. There has to be clear understanding of the investment agreements, expense flows and balance sheet analysis by the team, in order to report with confidence to the business. The team is part of the Finance department, which also includes Financial Reporting, Fund Reporting and Business Performance & Planning. Key Outcomes
