Context

Operating within Standard Life Investments' Finance Department, the Reporting teams are responsible for the preparation of statutory accounts, Group reporting and FSA reporting for the corporate entities as well as statutory accounts, distribution rates and Group reporting for a range of unit trusts and OEICs.

Purpose

This role will provide the chosen candidate with the opportunity to utilise their existing Fund Reporting skills, spending around half of their time completing fund statutory reports and distributions and reviewing the work of others, whilst utilising the remainder of their time assisting in the completion of corporate statutory and Group accounts, plus other corporate reporting related matters.

The right candidate will have strong technical ability and will be able to confidently discuss their current knowledge and work in Unit Trusts and OEICs and reviewing funds will already be part of their current role. Excellent interpersonal and self-motivational skills and a very high standard of work will be required in order to effectively operate within two teams, producing financial reports within agreed deadlines and complying with appropriate Regulations.

Key Outcomes
  • Review Unit Trust and OEIC accounts/distribution rates.
  • Assist in the production of Unit Trust and OEIC accounts.
  • Review quarterly Group fund reporting figures and disclosures, and assist in the production of group figures when demand requires.
  • Give formal feedback to Team Manager on staff performance evidenced through review process.
  • Assist Team Manager in managing workload, to ensure on time delivery of all aspects of team workload.
  • Assist in the production of statutory corporate accounts and associated reports.
  • Assist in the production of Group corporate reporting requirements.
  • Play a role in project work as appropriate within the teams.
  • Assist team in understanding and application of new accounting regulations.
  • Identify and implement improvements to procedures within the team.
  • May be required to train / coach less experienced team members on all aspects of fund accounting process.

Core Knowledge
  • FSA regulations/IMA SORP
  • Unit Trust & OEIC Accounting requirements
  • Knowledge of regulations and operating models for retail collective investment schemes (e.g. OEICs) and their application in practice
  • IFRS accounting knowledge desirable

Core Skills
  • Highly numerate
  • IT skills (in particular Excel)

Qualifications / Experience
  • Part Qualified/newly Qualified Accountant with relevant experience.
  • Exposure to Financial Services Industry, including at least 3 years experience of preparing/reviewing Unit Trust and OEIC Fund accounts.
